बी.वी. दोशी ने सन् 1955 में अपना स्टूडियो ‘वास्तु-शिल्प’ बनाया और इंडियन इंस्टिट्यूट ऑफ मैनेजमेंट, अहमदाबाद के डिजाइनिंग कैंपस में लुई खान और अनंत राजे के साथ काम किया। इसके अलावा वह बेंगलुरु, लखनऊ, नैशनल इंस्टिट्यूट ऑफ फैशन टेक्नॉलजी, टैगोर मेमोरियल हॉल, इंस्टिट्यूट ऑफ इंडॉलजी सहित भारत के कई परिसरों में वह डिजाइनिंग के लिए गए। दोशी का परिवार फर्नीचर बनाता था। एक इंटरव्यू में खुद दोशी ने कहा था कि उन्हें आर्किटेक्चर से जुड़ी शुरुआती प्रेरणा उनके दादाजी के घर से मिली थी।
