म्यांमार ने अब तक सैकड़ों रोहिंग्या मुस्लिम शरणार्थियों की पहचान की है, जिन्हें संभवत: वापस लिया जा सकता है। म्यांमार के एक अधिकारी ने बीते महीने कहा था कि यह ग्रुप म्यामांर में वापसी करने वाला शरणार्थियों का पहला जत्था होगा, सही वक्त पर इन्हें वापस बुलाया जाएगा। मुएलर को म्यांमार में सीमित जगहों पर ही जाने की अनुमति दी गई। इस दौरान वह हिंसा से सबसे ज्यादा प्रभावित रखाइन सूबे में गए और रक्षा मंत्री से मुलाकात की। इसके अलावा म्यांमार की सर्वोच्च लीडर आंग सान सू ची से भी मीटिंग की।
