मदुरै। तमिलनाडु के थेनी जिले में कुरांगनी पहाड़ पर जंगलों में रविवार को अचानक आग लग जाने से वहां ट्रेकिंग के लिए गए कम से कम 9 की झुलसकर मौत हो गई। थेनी की जिला कलेक्टर मरियम पल्लवी बलदेव ने बताया कि मृतकों में चार पुरुष, चार महिलाएं और एक बच्चा शामिल है. इनमें से 6 लोग चेन्नई के हैं, जबकि अन्य तीन इरोड के रहने वाले हैं।
इस घटना की खबर मिलते ही वायुसेना के हेलीकॉप्टरों को रेस्क्यू ऑपरेशन में लगाया गया, जिसने वहां फंसे करीब 30 छात्रों को बचाया। इनमें ज्यादातर छात्राएं और महिलाएं हैं, जिन्हें इलाज के लिए अस्पताल में भर्ती कराया गया है. वहीं कम से कम 10 ट्रैकर्स के अब भी वहां फंसे होने की आशंका है।
दरअसल इस घटना को लेकर मुख्यमंत्री के पलानीस्वामी ने मदद के लिए रक्षा मंत्री निर्मला सीतारमण से संपर्क किया था, जिसके बाद रक्षा मंत्री के निर्देश पर दो हेलीकॉप्टरों को भेजा गया।
उधर, सीतारमन ने कई ट्वीट कर बताया था कि कोयंबटूर के समीप वायुसेना के सुलुर अड्डे से दो हेलीकॉप्टर बचाव अभियान में सहायता पहुंचाने के लिए भेजे जा रहे हैं। उन्होंने कहा था, कुरांगनी में 20 छात्रों के जंगल में आग में फंसे होने के मुद्दे पर तमिलनाडु के माननीय मुख्यमंत्री के अनुरोध पर हमने वायुसेना को बचाव में मदद का निर्देश दिया है।
वहीं राज्य के स्वास्थ्य मंत्री सी विद्यासागर ने कहा कि कुरांगनी के पर्वतों में फंसे 15 लोगों को बचाया गया है और उनकी चोट का उपचार किया गया है। उन्होंने जिलाधिकारी के हवाले से बताया कि एक मेडिकल टीम भी मौके पर भेजी गई है और पास के चाय बागान के कर्मचारी भी बचाव अभियान में मदद कर रहे हैं।
पुलिस के मुताबिक, कोयंबटूर और इरोड के छात्र कुरांगई- कोझुकु पहाड़ी क्षेत्र में ट्रेकिंग की ट्रेनिंग ले रहे थे, उसी दोरान दोपहर में अचानक आग लग गई। वहीं जिले के पुलिस अधीक्षक वी भास्करण और राजस्व व वन अधिकारी बाकी फंसे हुए छात्रों को बचाने के लिए कदम उठा रहे हैं।
